A very common misconception is losing weight and muscle build up needs a complicated system. Many people assume the only way to reach their fitness goals is to follow a difficult plan. Not only is this wrong, but it's the reason why so many people are unhappy with their body.
You're a busy person. You have other professional responsibilities. You have family obligations. You also want to maintain a social life. All of these factors simply mean you cannot dedicate your whole day on what you eat. The problem with so many diet plans is they expect your entire day to revolve around what you put in your mouth.
A food journal is an integral part of many diet plans. The traditional food journal needs to be exact and you have to write down in detail of every food you eat throughout the day. Not only do they ask you to write down what you eat, but they also ask you to write down the nutritional information for everything you eat.
If you've ever tried using a food journal, you likely found it to be a pain. No one wants to see or even do journal writing every time you sit down and have a meal. One of the reasons many people think eating six times a day is so hard is because of their bad experiences with food journals.
You may have lasted for a week or even a month with your food journal. But if you're like most people, you eventually decided you would just write down everything you ate at the end of the day. While this is far more convenient, the problem is most people leave out snacks or entire meals when they take this approach. This makes the entire food journal result turn into disaster.
Before You Take a Bite, Snap a Picture
Photos are the key to simplifying your food tracking without reducing its effectiveness. You carry your cellphone with you at all times. One of the features of your cellphone is a camera. This means you can pull it out and snap a picture in a few seconds.
Pulling out your cellphone and snapping a picture is exactly what you should do before you eat anything. Doing this at least six times a day can just take maybe less than 30 seconds. This allows you to accurately track what you're eating without creating a burden for yourself.
You can use the photos that you've taken to gather what you ate. You can compile this information once a day or every few days. If you have an iPhone, there are even apps that streamline the compiling process for you.
Capture Your Progress as Well
You can also benefit from snapping pictures of yourself. This is a much better choice rather than always checking your weight. Tracking your weight is less than ideal for two reasons. One, your weight is going to fluctuate a lot. Your weight can change by several pounds throughout the day. This can lead to more frustration than good.
The other problem with weighing yourself is the scale doesn't take into account shedding fat and building muscle. The progress you make in shaping your body may not show up when you weigh yourself. But where you will be able to see the way you progress is all in the photo. Take a weekly photo of yourself and be proud of the continued progress you see!
