How is Music Beneficial?
You've likely noticed music's ability to impact your mood. Studies have now confirmed the power of music. Listening to music you like can lead to the release of dopamine. This is one of the chemicals in your brain responsible for making you feel pleasure. Dopamine is one of the reasons people get addicted to drugs. The problem with drugs is they interact with dopamine in a negative way. This isn't a side effect you have to worry about with music. Playing music gives you a natural dose of dopamine and you don't have to worry about crashing later.
Feeling good is a very powerful emotion. You're far more likely to do something when you feel good about it. This is why using music can be a great way to motivate yourself to work out. Hitting the gym may be a struggle for you. Whether you're thinking that it will probably just take too mush of your time or you're just too lazy to work out, there are numerous reasons why people are shy to go to the gym.
The good news is you can use music as a way to overcome your hangups about hitting the gym. Nothing feels better than getting your heartbeat up while your favorite music is in your ears. This combination can create a true natural high.
The only problem with working out and music is you can get tired of your favorites. You may reach the point where you're working out 3 to 5 times a week. If you're listening to the same album or playlist each time, it may eventually lose its edge.
The problem with finding new music that will have the same effect for you is music is very personal and subjective as well. What pumps up someone else may completely annoy or bore you. You don't necessarily even like music from the same genre. Just because you like lifting while listening to a Lil Wayne mixtape doesn't mean Soulja Boy is going to pump you up.
